Parish life

Sacrament of Reconciliation

This sacrament is a very important part of the spiritual life of Catholics and provision is made for its celebration each Sunday or Wednesday before Mass or by appointment. There are times when a Service of Reconciliation will be celebrated in the church for all to attend. This is usually during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Receiving Holy Communion

In order that we receive Holy Communion reverently we start by the front row on the right side (confessional side), work down that side to the back of the church and then continue from the back row on the left hand side towards the front. Please note, all those at Mass who are not in Full Communion with the Catholic Church and those Catholics not receiving Holy Communion are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing.

Pastoral Visiting

Everyone who would like a visit for whatever reason from a member of our pastoral team is encouraged to make their wishes known to Fr Philip Thomas or Elaine Wright (Parish Administrator).

Requests need to be made through the Parish Office (Elaine Wright) to at least one month before the baptism.

Requests should be made to Fr Philip Thomas through the Parish Office at least 6 months before the wedding. Arrangements for receptions etc should not be made until after arrangements have been made with the church please.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

This is the way in which adults are admitted into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. It really marks a journey of faith exploring the teaching of the Catholic Church in the context of one’s own personal life. Usually each year there will be a group of people who have some interest in knowing more about being a Catholic. If you or you know someone who may be interested please let Fr Philip Thomas know through the Parish Office.

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council meets regularly to oversee all aspects of parish life especially the administrative and financial matters. The present Chairperson is Fr Philip Thomas to whom all concerns and requests should be expressed, through Elaine Wright the Secretary. (Please see the published minutes and agendas posted elsewhere.)
