Community life

Sacrament of Reconciliation

This sacrament is a very important part of the spiritual life of Catholics and provision is made for its celebration each Saturday evening at 5.00pm or by appointment. There are times when a Service of Reconciliation will be celebrated in the church for all to attend.; This is usually during the seasons of Advent and Lent.

Pastoral Visiting

Everyone who would like a visit for whatever reason from a member of our pastoral team is encouraged to make their wishes known to Fr. Patrick or one of the Administrators.

Spiritual Formation Team

A team from the community meet regularly with Fr. Patrick to address the planning for out liturgical celebrations and to take responsibility for all the formation and enrichment programmes. This will include sacramental preparation programmes for Baptism, First reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation and Marriage and RCIA. They also arrange retreats, pilgrimages and other spiritual events throughout the year. Suggestions and requests for such events or programmes should be made to Fr. Patrick or Rachel Moody.

Baptisms

These are usually celebrated after the Sunday morning Mass. Requests need to be made to Fr. Patrick at least one month before the baptism.

Marriages

Requests should be made to Fr. Patrick at least 6 months before the wedding. Arrangements for receptions etc should not be made until after arrangements have been made with the church please.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

This is the way in which adults are admitted into full communion with the Roman Catholic Church. It really marks a journey of faith exploring the teaching of the Catholic Church in the context of one’s own personal life. Usually each year there will be a group of people who have some interest in knowing more about being a Catholic. If you or you know someone who may be interested please let Fr. Patrick know.

Pastoral Council

The Pastoral Council meets regularly to oversee all aspects of parish life especially the administrative and financial matters. The present Chairperson is Carol Hancock to whom all concerns and requests should be expressed. (Please see the published minutes and agendas posted elsewhere.)

Catholic Women’s League

Our community is blessed with a group of members of the CWL. They are very much involved in many charitable works and parish events. Please let Fr. Patrick know if you are interested in joining.

St Vincent de Paul Society

Although we have a branch of this Society it has temporally suspended its activities. Its members offer their services in visiting the sick, elderly and others in need. They can also arrange transport for Mass. New members will be most welcome when they restart their meetings.
